McNeill Designs Unveils
Beta Version of Online Game at Gen Con 2007

Indianapolis, Indiana — Game development firm McNeill Designs for Brighter Minds recently announced that the firm will preview the new, beta version of the online word game You’ve been Sentenced! at Gen Con 2007. Gen Con is the premiere event for over 35,000 gaming enthusiasts from around the country. The annual event, held in Indianapolis, Indiana, is a Mecca for gamers and includes a vibrant exhibit floor with over 5,000 gaming events, celebrity appearances, Anime, and new releases like McNeill Designs’ online version of You’ve been Sentenced!.

The online game is based on the firm’s hit card game of the same name. Game play involves the use of pentagon shaped cards containing conjugations of words which players compile into oftentimes outlandish sentences. The game also uses a “Jury” concept. “Forcing players to justify their thinking and explain outrageous sentences makes for some seriously hilarious moments,” says company President Martin Uniacke.

The online version will contain many of the same elements that made the card version so successful. “The online version has both the look and feel of the original, with similar graphics and colors,” says Chairman Donald W. McNeill. “Players can easily manipulate word cards on their screen to create sentences and play is timed. But best of all, players can instantly communicate with one another through a powerful IM function. This allows the online version of You’ve been Sentenced! to retain its most important elements – interaction between players, discussion of one another’s bizarre sentences, and the all-important voting segment.”

The decision to release an online version of You’ve been Sentenced! came after a record breaking year of sales for the firm. “You’ve been Sentenced! really came into its own in 2006,” explains Uniacke. “ The game is now available in all 50 states in over 400+

specialty retailers, as well as nationwide through the nation’s favorite book sellers Barnes and Noble, Borders Books, Books-a-Million, plus America’s most famous toy store FAO Schwarz.” It is also available through ACD, Alliance, and Diamond distribution.

The card game version of You’ve been Sentenced! has already attracted consistently positive reviews. In 2006 You’ve been Sentenced! received a coveted iParenting Media Award and place in the iParenting Media’s Greatest Products of 2006 List. The game also earned a spot at the FAO Schwarz Toy Auditions, which are held each year to seek the most exciting, unusual, and special new toys and games.
